Green Acre Farms

In October, we visited Green Acre Farms in Markham on Kennedy Rd.

We took a school bus and headed to the Pumpkin Harvest. We met our Outdoor Education Specialist to learn about the pumpkin from sprout to carving. It was followed by a long tractor ride and a visit to the animals at the farm. We finished off the day by picking a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch to bring him.

On October 31st, all the students got dressed up in the spirit of Halloween.

Halloween is celebrated at night. Children go trick or treating in their neighborhood.  The significance of the day is to mark the single night when the dead can cross over into the world of the living. We celebrated at school with candy, chocolate and many costumes. Our school was filled with police officers, superheroes, princes and princesses.

Christmas Concert

Every year the students work hard to prepare for their Christmas concerts.

This year the Mozarts and the Beethovens performed the play Snow White, which corresponded to the literacy theme “Fairy tales” they were learning about throughout the fall and winter terms. Students learned choreography, many songs, and plays to perform for the school community

Reptilia Trip

In April, we had a field trip to Reptilia in Vaughan.

The students were very excited to be in a classroom with reptile specialist and learn about the different types of reptiles. They enjoyed meeting different animals and most of them mustered up the courage to touch them. Following the classroom presentation, the students went on an exciting guided tour in the zoo portion of Reptilia, where they saw snakes, turtles, and alligators

Spring Concert

The students did it again and did the school proud with their spring concert.

This year, our students performed “Peter Rabbit”. The students were excited to perform the different songs and choreography of different dance styles they learned during the school year. The parents were equally exciting to see their child on stage!

Science Centre

Students went on a trip to the Science Center to experience science hands on.

They had the opportunity to visit the many exhibits at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto and learned a lot about nature and the world we live in. We all agreed it was a fun and an exciting experience.
